More Summer Days

Filed under: God's Creation, Outdoors — Admin @ 7:01 pm

Usually by this time of the year in Texas the grass, trees, and flowers begin to fade from beautiful, vibrant colors to a dull brown.  This year is a little different.  Due to a lot of rain, much of this area is still green, and still full of life and…bugs and critters.

Here are some pictures of bugs, remains of bugs, and a few other things found in August in North-Central Texas.

Many times when I see dew on the ground in the early morning I am reminded of the words of David in Psalm 133.

133:1  Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2  It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3  As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

The Kimmy or the Tiger

Filed under: Kimmy Joy — Admin @ 11:42 pm

What is it about little children and stuffed animals?  My house is exploding with both, particularly the stuffed kind.

Here are some recent pictures of Kimmy Joy with her newest stuffed acquisition: a vintage Russ Berrie Tippo Tiger.

Kimmy takes Tippo out for a walk.

Climbing a fence with Tippo.

I love my new friend!

Oh really?  You are so funny.

So tell me, which do you prefer:   The Kimmy?

Or the Tiger?

Maybe both?

Quote for the Day - John Piper

Here’s a great quote from John Piper, from his book, “The Pleasures of God.”

Jesus does not say [to the Pharisees], “You do not belong to my sheep because you do not believe.”  Belonging to the sheep…is not dependent on believing.  It’s the other way around.  Believing is dependent on being a sheep.

Belonging to the sheep enables a person to believe.

The Believer and Sin

Filed under: Church, Thought for the Day — Admin @ 5:29 am

While researching for a recent sermon I was preparing, I came across a sermon by Charles Spurgeon detailing what ought to be the attitude of the Christian toward sin.  I found this to be challenging and sobering; and it made me pause for a time of self-evaluation.  I trust it will do the same for you.  Click here to read.
