Every once in awhile I’ll come home and find something like this on the porch.

This picture was drawn by Matthew.

Science Project

Bacteria are microorganisms that live practically everywhere.  There are over 40 million in 1 gram of soil and 5 x 1030 bacteria in the world.

Using this book, Matthew put together a bacteria experiment.

Swabs of bacteria were taken from various places and cultured to see how fast they would grow.  Notice the swab in the middle.  Either we keep a very clean house or very dirty other things; or perhaps, as Matthew read in the book, that was the expected result.

Play-doh

Filed under: Arts and Crafts — Admin @ 7:44 pm

About 50 years ago a compound intended to be wallpaper cleaner was repackaged as the toy known as Play-doh.

Play-doh is a big deal around this home.  With it budding sculptors can let their imaginations and fingers soar.

Karen instructs Kimberly on the fine points of Play-doh.

Artistic Endeavors

Filed under: Arts and Crafts — Admin @ 5:09 pm

Our home is blessed with several who have various flavors of artistic ability. Most of these are in the area of music, but my oldest daughter Karen can also draw and paint. That is something I can’t do.

Now I am extremely proficient at stick art as the following picture demonstrates.

OK, enough of the silly stuff. Here are some of the latest works by Karen.

The pictures below were drawn with pastels. Last year God provided Karen with an abundance of art materials and encouragement to try pastels through a family friend who was overwhelmingly gracious to her. We give thanks to the Lord for Karen’s creativity and skill which has been self-taught throughout the years.
